Dr. Bird grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She graduated from Duke University in North Carolina, with a B.S. in Zoology. She realized that she wanted to become a physician after spending a year working in a basic science research lab in Bethesda, Maryland. She returned to Duke University Medical Center for Medical School and remained at Duke to complete her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Bird joined Women Ob/Gyn in 1984. “It was a great opportunity to practice, with other like minded women, and close to family and friends.” She really enjoys all aspects of women’s health care. “Obstetrics and gynecology is a field which allows for a long term patient/doctor relationship navigating general reproductive health, pregnancy, labor and delivery, and management of menopause. I also like the analysis of solving problems, applying technology, and gynecologic surgery. It’s very satisfying to be able to offer individualized care to patients for their needs from teens to moms to mature women.” Dr. Bird lives in Annapolis with her physician husband and has three grown children.
